Omaha Hi–Lo Poker is similar to normal OMAHA poker (usually called OMAHA HIGH). Omaha Hi–Lo Poker is played in exactly the same way but there can be two winning hands sharing the pot; the best high hand and the best low hand. A low hand can qualify but it must consist of five unpaired cards with the highest card being no greater than 8. To have the winning low hand you must be the player with the lowest high card. If two players have the same lowest high card then the next lowest high card will decide the winner. Again, if these cards are tied, then the next lowest cards are considered and so on until a winner is determined or the hand is a declared a tie. In the event of a tie the half of the pot awarded to the lowest hand is halved again, each player therefore receiving a quarter of the total pot.
It is possible to win the whole pot by having both in one hand. A great hand to have is Ace, two, three, four and five of the same suit. You would almost definitely win the high hand with a straight flush and there is no lower hand that you can get so he would win the whole pot. If there is no lower hand from anyone then the person who gets the high hand wins the whole pot. There won’t always be a low winner but the full pot will always be taken either by one or two players. Of course there are many risks betting high on a low hand because there is only half the pot you have a good chance of winning unless the cards are suited.
Next we get to 7 Card Stud which can cost a lot more than a standard game of Omaha
